I am very excited about the Ash Animal  Rescue Autumn Fayre! So much so I am writing a blog post without a recipe!

I wanted to write this little piece on a very special event that I am lucky enough to be part of. The Ash Animal Rescue in Kiltegan, Wicklow are holding a fundraising event on the 28th of September in the grounds of Duckett’s Grove Carlow.

The Ash Animal Rescue started their work back in 1990. This not for profit organisation have a No-Kill policy which they take very seriously. This means that any of the dogs, cats or other animals that they cannot rehome become part of their permanent family. They work hard to raise funds to allow them to offer the care needed for these often neglected animals, and they need help.

The great news is that the Autumn Fayre is set to be a fun and interesting event that makes supporting the Ash Animal Rescue both rewarding and enjoyable.

The lovely Oonagh Barrett of Great Irish Bake off 2013 and ‘Oonagh’s Kitchen’ fame, is a long time supporter of their good work and has invited me to get involved. I must admit this blog post is a little selfish as I want as many delicious entries as possible for the Great Duckett’s Grove Bake off!

The categories are

1. Best bread-can be brown or white soda, yeast etc.
2. Best Cake- can be plain, fruit, decorated etc.
3. Best Bake-Junior category (under 14)- any bake at all !

Oonagh and I are also doing food demonstrations on the day. If baking isn’t your thing (why are you reading this blog!?), there are lots of other great events!

Check out Ash Animal Rescue website or facebook page for more information on the fayre.

I hope to see you there!
